How does a tree escape or resist disease?
Virola nobilis is a tree species native to Panama and a good model for studying how trees can avoid diseases: Seedling mortality is high near V. nobilis trees, however toucans and monkeys disperse some seeds away from their mother tree, where survival is higher. In this talk we will explore how this tree must escape or resist diseases.
