Rescuing and establishing sustainable populations of endangered amphibian species.
The Panama Amphibian Rescue and Conservation Project (PARC) was created in 2009 as a partnership between the New England Zoo, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the Houston Zoo and the Smithsonian National Zoo, with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute to rescue and establish sustainable populations of endangered amphibian species throughout Panama. Efforts and experience are also focused on the development of methodologies to reduce the impact of the chytrid fungus, in addition to carrying out reintroduction tests in nature.
