In 2018 and 2019 we traveled through Colombia to distribute a book on the biodiversity that inhabited the country millions of years ago. Long Ago, a paleontological journey illustrated by Colombia, is a book of scientific dissemination on the history of the country's biodiversity, on a geological scale. The book distribution strategy included conducting 45 workshops in 29 of Colombia's 32 departments, aimed primarily at teachers from public educational institutions. The book is winner of the Alejandro Ángel Escobar 2019 Award in the Natural, Physical and Exact Sciences category. This initiative was carried out by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute, with the support of the Universidad del Norte, Cerrejón, the Ares Geological Corporation, the Association of Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists and the European Society of Evolutionary Biology.
