Historia y Arqueología de los caminos transístmicos de Panamá
We present the most recent historical and archaeological data on the transisthmian roads of Panama, the Camino de Cruces and the Camino Real, which arise from research related to the process of nominating a new property to the UNESCO World Heritage list, called " La Ruta Colonial Transístmica de Panamá". The new site includes the terminal cities of Panama (Panamá Viejo and Casco Antiguo), San Lorenzo and Portobelo, as well as the transisthmian roads that linked them. These explorations have revealed what remains of the roads and new information about their state of conservation, their route and its historical importance for Panama.
