Research Associates

In accordance with the SD 205, a Research Associate is a researcher formally designated through a process that includes a nomination, a review and approval from the STRI Director. Approved Research Associates receive an Appointment Letter from the OFI – AP that sets forth the terms of the status between STRI and the RA. This is status is for 3 years renewable, and any rights are non-transferrable.

Permits

Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente) Required for 1) all fieldwork (including observations) with marine, freshwater, terrestrial biological resources, and protected areas, 2) for all field courses in Panama and 3) for any genetics research involving the study of genetic structure of biological resources in the laboratory with organisms from Panama

Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (MIDA). Required for phytosanitary and zoosanitary requirements for the importation of plants, animal, products, and by-products of plant or animal origin, and for the export of live organisms.

This permit is required to export live organisms once the MiAmbiente Export Permit has been granted). One license is required for each species being requested for Export. Note: The STRI Scientific Permit Office will take care of this requirement once the MiAmbiente Export Permit has been granted. $35.00
