STRI facilities are often at full capacity, especially during Panama’s dry season from December to April, and during the northern summer, from June to August. Consult the facilities pages for housing options at each site. Please inform the Visitor Services Office when you register if you will require STRI housing.

Housing option

STRI manages housing units on or near our research facilities, and housing is allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All STRI rooms and apartments are intended to be shared. Monthly rent (per person, per bed) varies by site and depending on the visitor’s position at STRI.

Please make sure to include your housing needs when you submit your visit request. If you are traveling with family members or have special housing requirements, please also indicate that in your request.

STRI Housing Fees

Amenities

Our housing units include furniture, access to shared, fully equipped kitchens and/or cafeteria and free laundry machines. Most rooms have twin beds with linens, a desk and a chair. We provide shared bathrooms, Wi-Fi, shared dining tables, kitchenettes with refrigerator, stove, microwave, air-fryer, pots and pans, cutlery, plates, cups and cleaning supplies.

Please note:
You should bring all of your own personal hygiene and toiletries supplies: shampoo, soap, contact solution, toothpaste, etc.
