The actions announced for the "new normal" are the result of previous meetings in which it has been pointed out that this process in Panama will be different from other countries, considering that each nation has a different epidemiological behavior for COVI-19.

The basic principles of this strategy are solidarity, social discipline, transparency, gradualness, sustainability, individual responsibility and scientific evidence.

After two months of restrictive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and after presenting a doubling of cases in 20 days and presenting a case fatality rate of 2.8, which is below the world average.

And that the national health system is maintained without collapsing, Panama must prepare to live with a virus that is here to stay.

There is no contradiction between protecting jobs and quality of life without affecting the health of Panamanians, since indicators such as economic activity, maximum density per person and the minimum percentage of return were taken.

Also considered are diagnostic capacity, availability of molecular and/or serological tests and traceability of contacts (ability to follow up on at least 90% of confirmed patients and their contacts).

In addition to the risk level of economic activity.

Blocks

The sanitary measures established by the Ministry of Health must be complied with in each block. The first block developed is based on Decree 507, which kept essential companies operating. The second will be opened to car repair and maintenance services, e-commerce, fisheries and aquaculture, restaurants and park visits.
