Deputy Minister of the Presidency asks to investigate forgery of public documents for alleged purchases

The Vice Minister of the Presidency, Carlos García, revealed that the circulation of false information on social networks about alleged purchases of medical supplies and equipment by the Ministry of the Presidency was detected, this false information is being used to confuse the population, and requested the Attorney General of the Nation to initiate an investigation for the possible forgery of public documents.

"Forgery of public documents is a crime, therefore, we invite the Attorney General of the Nation to initiate an investigation to determine the possible commission of a crime for publication and forgery of public documents, for which the doors of the Ministry of the Presidency are open”. García showed several documents with the forged signature of the former Deputy Minister of the Presidency Juan Carlos Muñoz, and also the amounts of an alleged purchase of masks for USD $12 million were changed, among other documents.

"So far, the Ministry of the Presidency has not formalized any contract, or paid or will pay, a single dollar for the purchase of equipment that does not comply with the controls, therefore, the total amount paid by the Ministry of the Presidency for the purchase of equipment with emergency funds is zero dollars”.

The vice minister announced that a purchasing evaluation and analysis committee will be created to establish criteria and filters in order to guarantee that any request for transfer of funds from the Ministry of the Presidency to other entities meets the minimum support requirements.

He informed that any request for transfers of funds by public institutions before the Ministry of the Presidency must be supported by technical audit reports from the professionals of each entity.

COVID-19 presents a world reality never experienced by humanity, each country has had to adapt its policies and strategies in order to meet the needs of the population.

The social situations experienced in the last hours in various parts of the Republic require deep reflection on the risks involved in maintaining physical closeness during this pandemic, since the lives of those involved and their families are put at risk.

When the results of the effective transmission (Rt) numbers were presented yesterday, it was evident that not following the provisions established by the Ministry of Health makes it difficult to control the epidemic in the national territory.

In addition, it was announced that the appropriate measures such as closure of school sites, curfews, quarantine, promotion of hygiene and biosafety measures, as well as the establishment of sanitary fences, allowed to overcome the projections of the worst scenario, as the collapse of the health system, the affectation and deaths of scores people, as has happened in other countries.

Epidemiological report

Today Wednesday, April 29, 6,378 confirmed cases are reported, 178 are new, while 527 people have been recovered.

In home isolation there are 5,306 patients, while 178 people are reported dead, hospitalized in wards are 275 and 92 patients in the intensive care units.
