MINSA reaffirms a total quarantine this Saturday and Sunday

The Ministry of Health (MINSA) gave the order to speed up the processes for the second and third samples taken from positive patients who have completed the observation periods in the hotel-hospitals. For example, today, in a single hotel, 40 diagnostic test samples were taken from asymptomatic patients to evaluate their possible discharge, and 10 people were discharged for completing their quarantine period.

The Minister of Security, Juan Pino, reemphasized that this Saturday and Sunday there will be renewed commitment, with a total quarantine, and urged citizens to collaborate.

Furthermore, as part of the strategies promoted to strengthen the Protect Yourself Panama Plan, MINSA has carried out 2,651 swabs in the “drive throughs” installed in the Metropolitan Region and in Western Panama.

Starting today, https://covid19-minsapanama.hub.arcgis.com is enabled, where you can view general information on the situation of COVID-19, as well as preventive measures, the global situation of the pandemic and access to information from Panamá Solidario, ROSA and all the data required to be properly informed.

Actions against dengue

MINSA has not neglected the fight against mosquito-borne dengue. Actions have been intensified this week in vulnerable areas. We emphasize that the population be vigilant in eliminating the breeding grounds of the transmitting mosquito and to maintain hygiene measures to prevent COVID-19.

MINSA and the Caja de Seguro Social (CSS) have applied 132,293 influenza vaccines throughout the country.

Caja de Seguro Social (CSS) programs

The CSS is advancing with the influenza vaccination plan this week. The vaccine was applied in homes and nursing homes and in elderly groups that have gone to collect their pensions.

Retirees who have not been vaccinated can attend the CSS beginning on Monday, April 27, by appointment. At this moment, vaccines are applied to children under 5 years of age, people over 60 years of age, pregnant women and patients with chronic diseases.

The CSS has not suspended the home visit service for bedridden patients, which total 5,069 nationwide.

Security Report

The Security Minister reported that in the last 24 hours, 480 people, including 450 adults (393 male and 57 female), as well as 30 minors, were detained for breaking the curfew.

The minister emphasized that this Saturday and Sunday, the total quarantine is maintained, so they expect the collaboration of the citizenry.

He pointed out that the right to assemble is constitutional, but it cannot be ignored that its abuse may affect free transit and the alteration of the rights of third parties.

Panama Solidarity

MIDA Vice Minister Carlos Rognoni, as spokesman for the Panama Solidarity Plan, reported that 508,975 bags of food and 383,620 bonds have been made so far.

We are working with AIG and other institutions to spread the delivery of this benefit through the use of the Personal Identity Card, which is expected to be implemented very soon.
