Total traffic restriction Saturday and Sunday

The National Government emphasizes that, as a result of the absolute quarantine decreed throughout the country, this Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, no one may transit. Exceptions are those who, due to the nature of their functions, must work. Ivor Pittí, vice minister of security, reported that 671 detainees were registered for violation of the curfew in the past day, of whom 39 are minors. He also said that the misuse of safe conducts continues to be reported, which will force them to be verified and eliminated. He warned that legal regulations will be rigorously applied to those who violate quarantine measures.

Actions against COVID-19

The Vice Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, regretted that on his return from Coclé from the Minera Panamá site, he could see long lines of cars heading to the interior, so he reiterated the call to the population to stay at home. The isolation measures seek to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but must be respected by the population, he warned. The Minister of Commerce, Ramón Martínez, through his Twitter account reported: "It is important to clarify that this Saturday and Sunday, only motorized traffic will be allowed for home delivery only of food and/or medicine."

Reengineering in the CSS

Meanwhile, the deputy director of the CSS, Francisco Bustamante, regretted that, despite the special arrangements for the payment of the worker-employer fee, some businessmen delivered at least twenty bad checks, representing more than USD. $1 million. He also pointed out that a reengineering has been done in the Metropolitan Hospital Complex in order to relocate some sections and generate 150 beds to serve COVID-19 patients. MINSA thanked Cervecería Nacional, which donated 110,000 bottles of water to be distributed throughout the country. The population is reminded to stay at home, use face masks correctly, apply basic hygiene habits and social isolation take measures that help reduce the risk of contagion: All this to combat COVID-19.

Panama Solidarity

The director of the Institute for the Training and Use of Human Resources (IFARHU) Bernardo Meneses, as spokesman for the Panama Solidarity Plan, said that 18,900 food bags were packed yesterday at ATLAPA, while Chiriquí produced 4,000. He also reported that a container of bananas was purchased from producers in Bocas del Toro to bring to Panama at a cost of USD. $14,000 to benefit the country's agricultural sector.
