On Tuesday morning, Panama received from the Chinese Government an important donation of 5,000 COVID-19 tests to reinforce the “Protégete Panamá” (Protect yourself Panama) plan, and in a very short time a shipment of masks and ventilators will arrive in the country.

The Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Caja de Seguro Social (CSS) reinforce the compliance of protocols for the protection of medical personnel, a valuable resource that works every day in the fight against COVID-19.

On Tuesday an intensivist from the National Oncological Institute (ION) was appointed for the province of Veraguas, in order to redouble efforts in the health system in this region.

Together with the Ministry of Government, MINSA follows up on the strategy established for the management of COVID-19 in all penitentiary centers in the country, where separate special areas or zones have been established to deal with possible cases within prison facilities. Following the guidelines of Decree 504, it is reiterated to the population that as of today the curfew is extended from 5 in the afternoon to 5 in the morning throughout the country.

Staying at home and frequent handwashing are the most effective ways to avoid contagion by COVID-19, so the National Government asks the population to follow the sanitary provisions that seek to preserve health, peace and security throughout the country.

All of the official information regarding the novel coronavirus in Panama and the actions that the national government has taken are communicated on MINSA social media accounts and on the web page (www.minsa.gob.pa), they are also available on our hotline by dialing 169 or Whatsapp number 6997-2539.
