MINSA sends specialists to Veraguas and reinforces health protection for medical and hospital personnel

Health Minister Rosario Turner ordered the transfer of 3,500 health protection implements to distribute among medical and hospital personnel in the province of Veraguas where the most recent cases of COVID-19 are being treated.

The Ministry of Health (MINSA) has sent to that province an important group of specialists headed by Dr. Julio Sandoval to verify the protocols for attention for coronavirus in the medical centers of the area, including the Luis "Chicho" Fábrega hospital in Santiago, and the condition of its facilities. Three humidifiers with complete integrated flow generators have been delivered as well.

The tour of intensive care doctors, pulmonologists and infectologists will continue to the Herrera and Los Santos provinces.

In the nearby Ngäbe Buglé region, the MINSA has assigned new health support personnel to promote contagion prevention measures and reinforce healthy lifestyle habits.

In addition, access to the region will be controlled so that there is no transfer of people who do not pass the screening.

As ordered by Minister Turner, in every health center in the country, a COVID-19 committee conformed by the director, infectologist and nurses, should be formed to supervise the protocols for caring of patients with this condition.

In Panama City, the Dirección de Provisión de la Salud ( Department for Health Provision) of the MINSA is repeating tours to assess compliance with protocols for COVID-19 attention in public and private hospital centers and small clinics in the city, which must abide by biosafety regulations and have inhalation therapy equipment. If deficiencies are detected, a period of 48 hours will be granted to correct them.

In addition, the National Government provided a special charter flight to facilitate  return to their countries of origin for the young people who attended a musical and cultural festival in Costa Arriva, Colón province, that was suspended due to the health emergency; none has resulted affected.
