New Mobility Restrictions as Defined by Executive Decree No. 1686

Dear STRI Community,

The following is to inform of the new measures detailed in Executive Decree No. 1686 dated December 28, 2020, which establish "sanitary measures for the restriction of citizen mobilization in the provinces of Panama and West Panama, due to social behavior and high index contagion of COVID-19, and dictates other provisions. "

Articles 1, 2 and 3, establish mobility restrictions in the provinces of Panama and West Panama that will be in effect starting at 5:01 a.m. Monday, January 4 until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021.  These restrictions are being implemented according to gender and ID or passport number. Mobilization is permitted only within the specified schedule and exclusively for the purchase of food, medications, fuel or for health measures. On Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 January a total quarantine will be in effect throughout the entire country. Please refer to Executive Decree No. 1686, attached.

Also, please take note of Article 6, which details that in the rest of the country the current curfew continues in effect from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., as previously established in Executive Decree 1683 of December 18, 2020.

Given the above, STRI’s re opening plan, Phase 0.5, is suspended until further notice.
