New measures to contain the spread of COVID-19

You are here

Dear STRI Community, Visitors and Contractors,

In a press conference yesterday, the Minister of Health announced the new security measures that will be in effect as of January 14, resuming a gradual opening process:

The country-wide curfew will now be in effect from 9pm to 4am from Monday to Friday.

The total quarantine for the weekends will begin on Friday the 15th from 9pm to Monday 18th at 4am.

The police checkpoints or limits will be maintained.

The prohibition of events involving crowds is maintained.  Work related meetings will be permitted for a maximum of 25 people, but with social distancing.

Mobility by identification number is eliminated, but purchases by gender are maintained as follows:

-Women: Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

-Men: Tuesday and Thursday.

For more details, please refer to the attached file.

For the first time since the pandemic began, government issued gradual opening measures make specific reference to “scientific research and development services”, and set the opening date as of January 14. We clarify restarting STRI’s reopening phase 0.5 requires approval from the SI COVID-19 Team.  Therefore, STRI facilities remain closed until further notice. We look forward to contacting the STRI Community as soon as we have further news about restarting opening phase 0.5.

Thank you for your kind attention.
